“State of the Union” with Insight

January 14, 2009

And what a state America is IN!!!!!!! Through time her health has deteriorated. First it was an appendectomy, followed by a gall bladder operation. Next it was a loss of a lung [the right one I think]. Then one kidney failed and shortly after that she had to have a kidney transplant. Well guess what? Ya! a cancerous tumor had to be cutout of the liver. And now we find her in Intensive Care after  quadruple bypass surgery on the heart, with the prognosis looking rather bleak. How fast things can slip away when you start down the “primrose path”.

Now America finds herself poised for a depression and the world with her, that will make the so called “Great Depression” of 1929 [what’s so great about a depression anyway] look like FUN. Oh, by the way it included the whole world also.

Back before the “Great Depression” of 1929 the people were relatively debt free. A strong  family unit was the foundation of this once great nation.  They would save their money up and then buy what they needed. The family farm was a big part of  America, and most other people had  their own gardens. The country had a strong moral fiber.  Most of the people could think for themselves,  solve their own problems. They didn’t shun responsibility.

Then came the “Great Depression” and life as they knew it changed forever. The stock market crash [which the rich and famous made possible] put into motion destructive forces that took down the greater part  of the people. Things became hard, just being able to feed their families was tough, let alone have a home. The masses were in such a bad way, that they were ready to try just about anything.

Herbert Hoover was president when it all started to go bad. Certain people tried to push him for radical social change , but he didn’t want to be that guy. Well that guy soon came. FDR, [Franklin Delano Roosevelt] was the right character for job. He and his cohorts ushered in the “New Deal” [RAW DEAL would be a better title] which would change America forever.

Back in 1913 the Federal Reserve came into being.  In 1933 the country  came off the “Gold Standard”[more on these topics at a later date].  This made it possible to fund  social programs and governmental departments of all kinds, supported  with what would become a massive bureaucracy. Here are some words for your consideration: “And I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies, and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale.” Thomas Jefferson.

At one time a father could earn enough money that the mother could  be home to take care of the family and home. Now in most cases even with both parents working it’s not enough. The family unit is in a shambles with widespread divorce. The moral fabric is in great decay. Heck, common decency is almost non-existent. Now what once was right is now wrong, and what was wrong is now right. No wonder people are confused at what to do. We turn over our responsibilities to the professionals. We  give up our freedoms for so called safety. Read now an interesting quote: “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” Benjamin Franklin.

Look at America now!!! The nations [the people] debt is outrageous at best. Trillons upon trillions of those nice Federal Reserve Notes, pieces of paper backed by our belief only, nothing else. Sooner or later, probably to soon, the holders of these pieces of paper will demand payment.[this money thing is another topic for another article.] Which will wreck our economy.

We now have unemployment of a grand scale, and becoming worse by the day. And what work you can find will hardly pay the bills, and with inflation and taxes constantly  going up eating up any extra you might have had,  how do you survive. The corporations move our jobs to other countries to maximize their profit. Eventually who is going to buy what’s being produced. Americans represent the biggest consumers of goods in the world by far. The time is coming when we won’t be able buy these products. Then the bottom will fall out of this charade. The illusion will be gone, and we will have to face the fact of trying to just survive this great apocalypse that will descend upon us. Most will be totally unprepared. It will be a terrible, NO, your worst nightmare possible. Read Scripture the greatest written word ever. The great handbook for us all. Study the word of the Almighty.

There is so many different topics I wish to write about. They all have there own effect upon us.

Read now some prophecy from Scripture  in Rev. 18:4,5

“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”
“For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.”

These words are directed right at us. Studying Scripture is the best thing a person can do. Most people don’t have a clue about what it contains, and how to apply it to their life. I have studied Scripture for many years, and will  continue until I die. I’ve learned a lot and will learn more I’m sure.

Until next time, good day!

Things that are Observed with Christmas

January 12, 2009

Let’s start with the mistletoe. The mistletoe was used by pagans long before Christ came on the scene, for their festival of the winter solstice because of it’s supposed miraculous healing power. Kissing under the mistletoe was a ancient pagan customised early on during a night of partying, getting drunk etc.. The winter solstice [the greatest pagan festival] celebrated the death of the “old sun” and the birth of the new sun.

Holly berries used in the holly wreath were also sacred to the sun-god. The yule log is actually the “sun log.” “Yule” means “Wheel”, a symbol for the sun in pagan culture. But Christians today speak of the “Yule Tide” season: how bright is  today’s Christian .

The Encyclopedia Americana says: The holly, the mistletoe, the Yule log are relics of pre-Christian times.

The book of Answers to Questions, compiled by Fredrick J. Haskins found in public libraries, says: The use of Christmas wreath is believed by authorities to be traceable to the Pagan customs of decorating buildings and places of worship at the same time as Christmas.

What about Santa Claus? So he’s St. Nicholas right?  Well anyone with a drop of sanity knows he’s a big lie. Actually the existence of St. Nicholas is in considerable question.

“Unfortunately, very little is known about the real St. Nicholas. Countless legends have grown up around this very popular saint, but very little historical evidence is available.” {Del Re, Gerard and Patricea. The Christmas Almanack. New York: Random House, 2004, p. 130]

Because the saint’s life is so unreliably documented, Pope Paul VI ordered the feast of St. Nicholas dropped from the official Roman Catholic calendar in 1969. [“Santa Claus” Microsoft Encarta Encyclopedia 99.

What about mythology? In Francis Weiser’s, Handbook of Christian Feasts and Customs he writes “Behind the name Santa Claus actually stands the figure of the pagan Germanic god Thor.”[Weiser, Francis X. Handbook of Christian Feasts and Customs. New York: Harcourt, Brace & World, Inc. 1952, p. 114].

Why do parents, that would punish their children for lying to them, do the same thing, and tell the lie that Santa Claus is real?!!!!! . It defies all logic,. It is  a sin against the Almighty! A lot more could be said on this subject, but you all need to go research too.

What about the GREAT gift exchanging idea? Let’s look at two accounts of birthday’s being celebrated in the bible. In Mark  6:21, “And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee,” Also, in Genesis 40:20, “And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants; and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of chief baker among his servants.”Both of these guys were pagans, and their birthday parties ended in death, with Herod beheading John the Baptist, and Pharaoh doing the same to the chief baker. You will not find Scripture telling you to celebrate any ones birthday, let alone Christmas.

Actually Christmas is a burden for most. They  go into debt for it, which Scripture hates. People always find it  hard to buy the “right gift”. You hear people talk about how much they paid for a gift, only to get short changed in return. Depression is at a all time high at the “Christmas season”.

What about the Christmas tree? Once again you won’t find Scripture telling you to have a Christmas tree. You do find it condemning cutting down trees and the like. Read Jer. 10:1-5 and  8,9.  Idol worship is condemned throughout Scripture. There’s a lot more info out there, go search it out.

Well when facts are used to examine Christmas tradition we see it’s just not Christian. Without a doubt it’s not Scriptural. But is undoubtedly PAGAN.

Just one way people embrace the mysteries of Babylon.

So what do christian’s say when you ask – why do you celebrate Christmas? They will say “It’s the birthday of Christ.” Well then why do people buy gifts for family and friends? Why wouldn’t they buy gifts for Christ? When someone has a birthday, don’t people buy gifts for that particular person and not for someone else?

I researched this ” Christmas Day” that the world seems so enamored with. I looked in Scripture [the Bible]  had to say. What had been written in different works through time. Interesting STUFF.

The word “Christmas” means “Mass of Christ,” or, as it came to be shortened, “Christ-Mass.” It came to non-Christians and Protestants from the Roman Catholic Church. And where did they get it? NOT from the New Testament – NOT from the Bible – NOT from the original apostles who were personally instructed by Christ – but it gravitated in the fourth century into the Roman Church from paganism.

Since the celebration of Christmas has come to the world from the Roman Catholic Church, and has no authority but that of the Roman Catholic Church, let us examine the Catholic Encyclopedia, 1911 edition, published by that church. Under the heading “Christmas,” you will find:

“Christmas was NOT among the earliest festivals on the Church…the first evidence of the feast is FROM EGYPT.” “PAGAN CUSTOMS centering around the January calends gravitated to Christmas.”

And in the same encyclopedia, under the heading “Natal Day,” we find that the early Catholic father, Origen, acknowledged this truth: “…In the Scriptures, no one is recorded to have kept a feast or held a great banquet on his birthday. It is ONLY SINNERS (like Pharaoh and Herod) who make great rejoicings over the day in which they were born into THIS world”.

Encyclopedia Britannica, 1946 edition, has this: “Christmas (i.e., the Mass of Christ)…Christmas was not among the earliest festivals of the church…” It was not instituted by Christ or the apostles, or by Bible authority. It was picked up afterward from paganism. The Encyclopedia Americana, 1944 edition, says: “Christmas…It was, according to many authorities, not celebrated in the first centuries of the Christian church, as the Christian usage in general was to celebrate the death of remarkable persons rather than their birth…” (The “Communion,” which is instituted by New Testament Bible authority, is a memorial of the death of Christ.) “…A feast was established in memory of this event [Christ’s birth] in the FOURTH CENTURY. In the fifth century the Western Church ordered it to be celebrated forever ON THE DAY OF THE OLD ROMAN FEAST OF THE BIRTH OF SOL, as no certain knowledge of the day of Christ’s birth existed.”

Now notice! These recognized historical authorities show Christmas was not observed by Christians for the first two or three hundred years – a period longer than the entire history of the United States as a nation! It got into the Western, or Roman, Church, by the fourth century A.D. It was not until the fifth century that the Roman Church ordered it to be celebrated as an official Christian festival!

Jesus was not even born in the winter season! When the Christ-child was born “there were in the same country shepherds ABIDING in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night” (Luke 2:8). This never could have occurred in Judaea in the month of December. The shepherds always brought their flocks from the mountainsides and fields and corralled them not later than October 15, to protect them from the cold, rainy season that followed that date. Notice that the Bible itself proves, in Song of Solomon 2:11 and Ezra 10:9, 13, that winter was a rainy season not permitting shepherds to abide in open fields at night.

“It was an ancient custom among Jews of those days to send out their sheep to the fields and deserts about the Passover (early spring), and bring them home at commencement of the FIRST RAIN,” says the Adam Clarke Commentary (Vol. 5, page 370, New York ed.)

Continuing, this authority states: “During the time they were out, the shepherds watched them night and day. As…the first rain began early in the month of Marchesvan, which answers to part of our October and November (begins sometime in OCTOBER), we find that the sheep were kept out in the open country during the whole SUMMER. And, as these shepherds had not YET brought home their flocks, it is a presumptive argument that October had not yet commenced, and that, consequently, our Lord was not born on the 25th of December, when no flocks were out in the fields; nor could He have been born later than September, as the flocks were still in the fields BY NIGHT. On this very ground, the nativity in December should be given up. The feeding of the flocks by night in the fields is a CHRONOLOGICAL FACT…See the quotations from the Talmudists in Lightfoot.”

Any encyclopedia, or any other authority, will tell you that Christ was not born on December 25. The Catholic Encyclopedia frankly states this fact.

The exact date of Jesus’ birth is entirely unknown, as all authorities acknowledge – though if I had space in this booklet I could show you scriptures which at least strongly indicate it was in the early fall – probably September – approximately six months after Passover.

If God had wished us to observe and celebrate Christ’s birthday, He would not have so completely hidden the exact date.

Then how did this pagan custom creep into the Western Christian world?

The New Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religous Knowledge explains it clearly, in its article on “Christmas”: “How much the date of the festival depended upon the pagan Brumalia (Dec. 25) following the Saturnalia (Dec. 17-24), and celebrating the shortest day of the year and the ‘new sun’…cannot be accurately determined. The pagan Saturnalia and Brumalia WERE TOO DEEPLY ENTRENCHED IN POPULAR CUSTOM TO BE SET ASIDE BY CHRISTIAN INFLUENCE…The pagan festival with its riot and merrymaking was so popular that Christians were glad of an excuse to continue its celebration with little change in spirit and manner. Christian preachers of the West and the Near East protested against the unseemly frivolity with which Christ’s birthday was celebrated, while Christians of Mesopotamia ACCUSED THEIR WESTERN BRETHREN OF IDOLATRY AND SUN WORSHIP FOR ADOPTING AS CHRISTIAN THIS PAGAN FESTIVAL.”

Remember, the Roman world had been pagan. Prior to the fourth century, Christians were few in number, though increasing, and were persecuted by the government and by pagans. But, with the advent of Constantine as emperor, who made his profession of Christianity in the fourth century, placing Christianity on an equal footing with paganism, people of the Roman world began to accept this now-popular Christianity by the hundreds of thousands.

But remember, these people had grown up in pagan customs, chief of which was this idolatrous festival of December 25th. It was a festival of merrymaking, with its special spirit. They enjoyed it! They didn’t want to give it up. Now this same article in the New Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge explains how the recognition by Constantine of Sunday, which had been the day of pagan sun worship, and how the influence of the pagan Manichaeism, which identified the SON OF GOD with the physical SUN, gave these pagans of the fourth century, now turning over wholesale to “Christianity,” their excuse for calling their pagan-festival date of December 25th (birthday of the SUN-god), the birthday of the SON OF GOD.

And THAT is how “Christmas” became fastened on our Western world. We may call it by another name, but it’s the same old pagan sun-worshipping festival still. The only change is in what we call it. You can CALL a rabbit a “lion,” but it’s still a rabbit, just the same.

Again from the Encyclopaedia Britannica: “Certain Latins, as early as 354, may have transferred the birthday from January 6th to December 25, WHICH WAS THEN A MITHRAIC FEAST…OR BIRTHDAY OF THE UNCONQUERED SUN…The Syrians and Armenians, who clung to January 6th, accused the Romans of sun worship and idolatry, contending…that the feast of December 25, had been invented by disciples of Cerinthus…”

What do think about those “APPLES”?
